Our home away from home is located on Victoria's Great Ocean Road at Anglesea. Built in the 1980's and owned by us for 11 years, the home has been completely renovated to provide relaxed and comfortable breaks for both us and our exchange guests.
The home consists of 3 queen bed rooms plus a comfortable day bed, 2 bathrooms incl. en-suite off main, large study with computer and printer. The kitchen has all modern appliances and bench tops. There are 2 separate toilets and a laundry.. Our living room is the centerpiece of our home with TV, books, videos, board games. There are 2 other TV's in the home. A fabulous picture window frames a leafy outlook across 3 fairways of the famous Anglesea Golf Course. About 300 iconic Australian Western Grey Kangaroos live on the Golf Course and they regularly graze within our outlook. In fact they're often in our backyard, which runs seamlessly onto the golf course.
There is a small garden area below our side balcony where pets can be contained. We are a pet friendly household and welcome guests with house trained dogs.
We are 1 km from the Anglesea Surf Beach and 1.5 km from Point Roadknight, which is a safe family oriented beach.
Anglesea is just 1.5 hours by freeway from Melbourne and is a perfect base for exploring the Great Ocean Rd and its wonderful attractions.
We are a couple of 'empty nesters' aged 73 and 69. Our second home on Victoria's Surf Coast is our getaway from City Life our Aussie destination.
Robyn is a tourism and marketing consultant whilst Bruce was an engineering project manager in the food, dairy and beverage industries, but now retired. We are world traveled and had our first home swap with a Swiss couple in July/Aug 2006.
We love meeting people from all over the world, either in their home country or ours
Anglesea is located just 130km or 90 mins drive from Victoria's capital Melbourne. It is a leafy town surrounded by forests, on our South West Coast, right on the famous Great Ocean Road. It has a river mouth with paddle boats and great beach walks. The main Surf Beach has rolling waves and one of Australia's biggest Surf Lifesaving Clubs. Nearby, Point Roadknight beach provides safe swimming for families and is a popular sailing, fishing and long-board riding beach.
Anglesea has a village atmosphere with all necessary shops, including a supermarket, chemist, newsagency, clothing and footwear, bakeries, ice-cream, coffee shops, hotel and a range of restaurants.
Inland there are picturesque forest walks, fun dirt bike and 4wd tracks. A clifftop walk with fabulous ocean views, follows the coast for many kilometres .
Anglesea also has a bowling club, tennis courts ,trampolines and the 18 Hole Golf Course with its resident kangaroos.. Roo Tours are conducted daily on the golf course, operated by volunteers , where visitors can get up close and personal with the kangaroos.
