Acerca de nuestra casa

A quaint weatherboard cottage surrounded by several acres of park-like gardens & grazing land. In an old orchard next to the house grows century old plum, apple and walnut trees, under which becomes a wonderful al fresco dining area that overlooks the pond. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with bunks, there is also a double sofa bed for extra guests. The cottage is typical of its era with the front door opening into the front sitting room with its daybed, the main bedroom off to the right. Past the sitting room is the lounge room with adjacent second bedroom and past the lounge room is the open plan kitchen and dining area that runs the width of the house, past the kitchen is the laundry and wet area with the toilet and bathroom to the right. At present our pond is not fenced so the property would not suit families with very small mobile children.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. Our family consists of Julie and Duncan, a couple with one teenager, Jesse. Duncan is a shipwright, specialising in timber boats and Julie is a student of fine arts and is involved in the Guide Dog Association's puppy raising progam. We have so far raised 10 pups. Jesse is a bright student who attends a selective college he enjoys designing animations and playing piano. We also have a production company and provide sound & lighting for live music. We enjoy spending time on our boat that Duncan rebuilt from a wreck, collecting antiques, horseriding and skiing and exercising our dogs. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident. We are very experienced pet owners so are happy to care for your animals :)

A easy 3 hour drive from Sydney airport, situated halfway between Canberra and the Southern NSW coast, above the picturesque Budawang Ranges the cottage is located in the National Trust classified town of Braidwood, well known for it's artists, galleries & antiques, restaurants and cafes and beautiful turn of the century buildings.
A short 50min drive to the south with take you to the capital Canberra and 50min drive to the east you will arrive at the coastal town of Batesmans Bay and the beautiful south coast beaches. From the kitchen there is a vista through the plum trees across open paddocks towards Braidwood township and St Bedes where my great great great grandfather was married. On a Sunday you can hear the church bell ringing, St Bede's bell was destined for St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney but was wronging inscribed and ended up in Braidwood. The town is a lazy 10 minute stroll away and contains one of the best bakery's in the state and Andy's wood-fire pizza's with a lazy bottle of red are a must.
Things to do.. Bush walk to the Marble Arch in the Deua National Park,
Fish for trout or pan for gold in the Shoalhaven and Mongarlowe Rivers,
Picnic at the historic water wheel, take a guided horse trek.
Visit Historic Mogo village with it's abundance of art and craft shops, take the Nerriga Rd to Shallow crossing, picnic by the river, return via Nelligan, visit the historic riverside hotel and taste test the local honey at the gallery.
