We live in a 14 square split-level townhouse which has three bedrooms, main BR has an ensuite. One of a group of 18 townhouses in a quiet cul-de-sac with rear access to a small public open space, a pathway system linking adjacent suburbs and the bush. The house has compact gardens at the front, rear and on one side, which have reticulated automatic watering. Central heating throughout. The lounge room is on the lower level as are the main bedroom, the kitchen and small family room, and the dining room. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a den and a bathroom. In the rear courtyard we have a barbeque and table setting.
Pat is a town planner now retired from the A.C.T. (State) Housing. Bill is a retired civil engineer, having worked largely for Government agencies in the transport planning and research fields. We regularly cycle, and play table tennis. Bill is also a social chess player. Our main interests are travelling, keeping fit, cinema, reading, and the culinary arts. We have a dog which is cared for by friends when we are away from home. We are non-smokers and would prefer to exchange with non-smokers. We are experienced exchangers - about 14 so far.
Within a few minutes walk is a small group of shops, a regional shopping centre is a few minutes drive away and the city centre 15 minutes drive away. The altitude of Canberra averages 600 metres and its air is crisp and pollution free. Spring and autumn are seasons for clear blue skies and very comfortable weather with the natural landscape at its most attractive. Canberra is a cyclist's dream with a extensive bike path network.Cycle through the many parks and around the central lake or complete the Centennial trail around the city by bike or walking. It is a wonderful place to explore nature. Situated in the centre of New South Wales it is an three and a half hour drive to Sydney, or take a bus which depart every hour, drive to the beach two and a half hours, or to the snowfields a 2 hour drive.
We have two vehicles, both of which are available for use during an international exchange. Canberra is a gorgeous city surrounded by bush but very cosmopolitan with lots of great restaurants and coffee shops.
