We regularly have Koala Bears in our garden as there is a resettlement program in our area.(See Koala Bear in photo) Somers is an exclusive seaside village on Western Port Bay on the Mornington Peninsula. Standing on the beach you look across to Philip Island (3 miles by boat) to the Seal Rock's seal colony. Great fishing in Westernport Bay and the cleanest beaches in the state. Dolphins often come to swim with residents. (see photo) You can catch a ferry at Stony Point (5 mins from Somers) cross the bay to Philip Island or drive 25 min to Sorrento on the other side of the peninsula on a scenic drive through Red Hill and catch a car ferry to historic Queensliff. A short drive leads on to the Great Ocean Rd - one of the most spectacular ocean drives in the world. Within minutes from our home you can access horse riding along the beach, going to Ashcombe Maze, wine tasting, sailing, strawberry picking, watching bird life at Coolart Wildlikde reseverve (300 yds from our place) or taking a picnic at many places on the heritage listed peninsula. If the relaxation is too much you can be in Australia's cultural & sporting capital, Melbourne, in one hour for a concert, play or sporting event along the new City Link Freeway. (Traffic light free driving).
Come back to Somers for a sail in the bay. There are landscaped bike paths and the topography is good for bike riding. Kids can take surfing lessons at Pt. Leo beach ten minutes down the road.
