Acerca de nuestra casa

Since moving to lovely Prince Edward County, we have been slowly uncovering our home's hidden charms. Renovations are moving along briskly and we can offer a huge 18 X 27 foot country kitchen with brick walls and pine floors. There is a living room, play space and a four-piece bath on the main floor and a separate washroom on the upper floor. We have three bedrooms up with cozy sloping ceilings and one larger bedroom, also on the main floor.
We have dogs and cats in residence - so sorry, no pets may visit. Our dogs will be kenneled during our absences, but the three cats stay, so cat lovers are a must! We have almost three acres on which to roam with a half-acre fenced, so children can play out of doors safely. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine on the deck off the kitchen while they barbecue or watch the children play. Our closest neighbours to the rear are a herd of lovely cows. Our road has only three houses on it and ends just past our house, so it's more like a private lane with very limited traffic.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are Peter and Laura with a combined family and a great sense of humour. Peter is a photographer with a national Canadian newspaper while Laura is a writer based at home.
We love to travel and long to take our children on adventures in an affordable way. We have three or four children who would like to travel with us between the ages of two and 17, so we are either five or six when we head out the door.
We both love photography and exploring new countryside. We love rural life and hidden treasures. Our idea of a great Sunday would be to wander in and out of a couple of antique stores and hike a trail before a nice boutique lunch. We both love to read and have good books on our shelves. We love a wide range of music and have an eclectic music selection.
The children also love reading, chess and hiking. We enjoy lots of quiet family time at home around the harvest table or lounging with a good book in the living room.

We are ideally situated on the edge of a small village with a church, small park, artist's studios and a boat launch. We are just 10 minutes from the town of Picton which offers great bookstores and lovely boutique shopping, as well as a variety of food stores.
We are also only 10 minutes from the fabulous white sand beaches and dunes of Sandbanks Provincial Park which offers excellent swimming in the summer time. Build a sandcastle on the beach or walk the trails. There are festivals and events ongoing year-round and many residents celebrate their Loyalist ancestry by flying the Loyalist flag and offering open doors to their homes during the Amazing Loyalist Adventure in September. Or venture further off the beaten track and catch a glimpse of a wild turkey at a nearby Conservation Area. Hundreds come to this part of the world every spring to birdwatch. Visit the mysterious Lake on the Mountain whose waters rise and fall with a Great Lake some 200 miles away. Bicycle rentals are available in the charming village of Bloomfield or we have several bicycles in the garage. (Helmets are mandatory in Canada). There are fabulous eateries run by world-class chefs mixed in with smaller cafes and fast food joints. Local wineries are also springing up around the area, since Prince Edward County has now been designated Ontario's newest wine country.
There is always lots to eat, see and do in "The County."
