Acerca de nuestra casa

Our house, built in 1958 and my childhood home, has been totally renovated. It is a 1600 square foot bungalow situated on a 40 acre wood, 2 miles east of Red Deer. The great room (living room, grand piano, dining area and large, fully-stocked kitchen) faces west with a view of the city, the Rocky Mountains on a clear day, and great skies everyday. The view of the city lights at night are always a pleasure. The main level has tile throughout with underfloor heating. There is a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and lots of birch firewood. Our computer room/office faces north onto the hot tub deck and the woods. The master bedroom spans the east end of the house and has a clawfoot tub, vanity and sink, a walk-in closet, queen bed, and garden doors to the north deck. The upstairs bathroom has a large glassed-in shower, toilet and sink. The basement has a spare bedroom/craft room with a double bed. Also downstairs is a second bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. The washer, dryer, and freezer are also downstairs as is the wine-making equipment and my stained glass work area.
Amenities include satellite TV, internet, stereo system with indoor and outdoor speakers, hot tub, natural gas barbecue, decks on three sides of the house, a two-vehicle carport, and a steady supply of birds that we feed year round.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. Janet is a registered nurse who now works casually at the Red Deer General Hospital. She shares her time between Day Surgery and a post-surgical unit. I (Jock) am a semi-retired teacher/principal. I do contract work at Eastview Middle school and have been speaking at teachers' conventions and professional development sessions across the province. I am also writing a teacher resource book for a publisher in Ontario.
We enjoy golfing and flyfishing, downhill skiing and walks in our woods and the surrounding countryside. We play bridge and are avid readers. Jan enjoys knitting and scrapbooking. I spend spare time doing stained glass.
We have never exchanged homes before but are anxious to try it out. Our only pet, our cat Misstofflelees, will be left with another family during our holiday. We are interested in trading the use of a vehicle if insurance and a reasonable arrangement can be worked out.

Red Deer is a city of 85,000 situated in Central Alberta in the parkland area of the province. Our home is two miles east - one mile on pavement and one mile on gravel road. An hour and a half drive north takes you to Edmonton, the provincial capital and home of West Edmonton Mall. An hour and a half drive south takes you to Calgary, perhaps best known for the Calgary Stampede and home of the 1988 Winter Olympics. Another hour and a half west of Calgary is Banff, Alberta, set in the majestic Rocky Mountains. Red Deer is the fourth largest city in the province. There are plenty of shopping, dining, recreational, and cultural activities. Red Deer is surrounded by smaller centres, numerous lakes, golf courses, and more than enough to do and see. e.g. Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology, Rosebud Theatre, Stephansson House and Markerville Creamery, Prairie Steam Train.
