Acerca de nuestra casa

My cabin is a rustic-but-charming tree house-like hardwood dwelling with open-floor plan and bedroom mezzanine. There are skylights, high ceilings, fans, a day bed, hammocks, and mosquito netting on the queen size bed. There is a large front porch with 3 sets of folding doors merging the outside with the inside, plus a sun deck and terraced stone patio with furniture for sunning, al fresco dining, bird, monkey, and jungle watching. The house sits atop a knoll (40 step access) offering panoramic views of the surrounding rain forest with it's tropical flora and fauna.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. I am a retired academic who likes to travel from time to time with family in Europe and the USA and look for exchanges there as well as other places. Visitors to my place should be avid nature lovers and/or experienced adventurers or have a strong desire to be so, due to its remoteness and basic, back-to-nature life style. The best thing is that it is never cold and the sea is always warm!

Ubicación

Barrio/zona

This property consists of 2 acres of semi-tamed jungle on the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, within the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, less than fifteen minutes walk from the village of Manzanillo with excellent beaches for swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, fishing, and simply enjoying. Manzanillo village is at the entrance to hiking trails through the rain forest and/or along the blue coral lined Caribbean visited by Columbus on his last voyage. It is also possible to visit the Panamanian islands of Bocas del Toro by boat. Local boatmen are available for fishing and dolphin watching. The village has two small supermarkets. In addition, there is Maxi's bar and restaurant, well known for its lobster, red snapper and food on the grill. There's a pizza place, an ice cream/cake/espresso place, plus small local inexpensive cafes. There are several buses a day to Puerto Viejo and Limon and one direct bus per day to and from San Jose where the airport is located. All stop at the end of the driveway to the propeerty. Private bus service directly to and from the airport is also available. The Caribbean resort town of Puerto Viejo lies 20 minutes away with a variety of both local and international cuisines on offer as well as local live music, artisan boutiques, shopping, adventure tour companies, banks, ATMs, pharmacies, dentists, and doctors, a weekly Farmer's Market, and well-stocked supermarkets.
