Acerca de nuestra casa

Our house, brick-built in 1924, is typical from North of France. We've bought it nine years ago. It is now completely renovated but we've maintened its charm and character. The house is on three levels: the first floor is the living area with the kitchen, bathroom, dining room, and living room with a piano. There is also a little garden where you may cook (barbecue), eat and rest in the summer. The second level is two bedrooms, very spaceful. The top floor is one bedroom and one kids room. We are living in a residential and peaceful area, where you can find bakeries, butcher's shops, groceries, drugstores, a little supermarket and some restaurants. But after a twenty minutes walk you can reach the train station and the city center (shopping quarter, restaurants, old part of the town ...).

We live in Amiens, a city located in the North of France. It has 150 000 inhabitants. Amiens is the capital of Picardy, cradle of Gothic art. A visit to Amiens begins with the Cathedral, a World Heritage site. The Saint-Leu district is another reminder of the Middle Ages. A little further on are the Hortillonnages, market gardens crisscrossed with canals that offer an enjoyable boat trip. The writer, Jules Verne, made Amiens his adoptive town.
Amiens's region boast a number of world heritage sites : churches, castles, but also World War I battlesites and memorials (essentially Commonwealth sites like Australian Memorial in Villers-Bretonneux). There are also unusual sites : an extraordinary complex of limestone caves at Naours ; one of the largest archeological parks in France called Samara, very appreciated by children (and parents)... But Picardy is also famous for its coast. One hour by car from Amiens you may visit picturesque towns and vast beaches. The Somme Bay offers a wide variety of unspoiled sites to explore on foot, horseback or montain bike. Birdlife is particulary varied: a good two-thirds of all european species have been observed in the region in the Marquenterre sanctuary. Of course it is possible for the visitors of Amiens's region to reach by car or train other places of Picardy: the wonderful castle of Chantilly; the amusement park of Astérix. But you also have to know that Paris, Eurodisney and Lille are very close to Amiens: one hour by train !
