Our modest duplex apartment is our holiday home. It was built in 1989, and is in the heart of old Narbonne. The town hall is literally a 5 minute walk, as are the shops and restaurants. So a car is not required to enjoy all the amenities of town living. The apartment block is in a good area and has an electronic fob entry system. There is a small square directly adjacent, where car parking is free. Our apartment is on the third (top) floor, there is no lift/elevator. There is a flight of stairs within the apartment itself. It has been re-decorated, with a new kitchen installed. The total surface area is approx 57 sq metres, which comprises entrance hall with integral double storage cupboard, separate toilet, bathroom with non thermostatic over bath shower, a reasonable sized and well equipped kitchen and dining area, double bedroom with full height double fitted wardrobe, small sun room, petite balcony, and a 15 sq metre lounge on the upper mezzanine floor. Our apartment is furnished and equipped for either short or longer term living. It has a nice open bright airy feel, with a high beamed ceiling above the dining area. There are sliding double glazed windows that open onto the balcony. Wooden roof beams give the apartment character. The kitchen is open plan onto the dining area and the lounge. Both the heating and hot water are electric. There is a satellite system for English language television and radio. Cooling by multiple fans.

  1. We are currently seeking to exchange our holiday apartment to visit Italian towns or cities in Lombardy or Piedmont during the month of August 2010. We are a mature, fit and young at heart couple, John and Alison. We are both former academics. Our apartment is clean and fresh and we look to exchange to the same. As we are non smokers ourselves we only wish to exchange with non smokers. As we are now retired we can be fairly flexible in terms of dates and length of stay. Non simultaneous exchange is a possibility. We will respect and care for your property as if it were our own. Similarly, we only want to exchange with like minded couples.

Narbonne is a beautiful former Roman town. The Roman Via Domitia which extended from Spain to Rome is still in evidence in the town square. With a population of about 50,000, Narbonne is not too large, or small. There is an attractive plane tree-lined canal, which runs through the centre. The Narbonnaise say that Narbonne is at the crossroads of Europe. The town is ideally located, to provide a unique European holiday experience. Apart from the attractions of this part of the south of France, a number of different countries can be visited quite easily. Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Andorra are all within reasonable driving distance. Spain is a 1.5 hour drive. Barcelona a 2.5 hour drive. Ferries to Corsica are about 2 hours away. Cannes is approx 3hrs.45 minutes on the auto route. Nice is about 4 hours. Monte Carlo is 4.5 hours. Italy approx 5 hours. The Mediterranean and beaches, as well as a boating marina, are just 15 minutes by car or bus. Narbonne is very accessible. There are excellent links by road, rail and air. There are 4 airports within a short driving distance which are serviced by the budget airlines, i.e. Beziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier and Perpignan. Beziers and Carcassonne airports are approximately 35 minutes by car. Toulouse airport is about 1.5 hours. Cheap flights are possible beteen England, Scotland, Ireland, France,Germany. There is a motorail terminal, with good links into adjoining European countries. The TGV provides a high speed link to Paris.
