Acerca de nuestra casa

Our house is on the 5th floor (with lift) of a traditional Paris bourgeois building and was entirely renovated when we bought it in 2001. It contains a bedroom with a double bed, an office packed with books, a computer (broadband internet, unlimited free phone within the EU, skype, fax) and a comfortable single bed, a large kitchen-dining area-living room (it used to be two separate rooms), and a large bathroom. Wooden floors everywhere. Shutters on all main windows. It is very bright and quiet, because we're not on the street side but inside the yard and protected from noise by other similar buildings. We like souvenirs from trips abroad, and have a few paintings and statuettes as well as some bright Provence colours on the kitchen side. Digital piano, Cable TV, DVD player. We think it is a very pleasant and convenient flat. Our caretaker is extremely kind and helpful.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. Clive is Irish with two daughters, Kate and Jane, aged 15 and 16 whose mother tongue is French but have a good command of English. They're pleasant and used to travelling with us. My name is Martine and I was born in the south of France, lived in the UK before settling in Paris. We are both conference interpreters, enjoy travelling, taking pictures, discovering new places. We get on really well with the girls, who are becoming more independent and adventurous.
None of them has been to New York before. I spent a week there in 1997 and haven't been back since. We're planning to spend some time in New York, then go to our friend's place in Vermont and then come back to New York before our departure on the 13th August. Our dates are not flexible in New York. This is our first home exchange.

Very convenient location: you can walk up to the Arc de Triomphe and be on the Champs Elysées in 10 minutes (maximum) with all the shops, cinemas and buzz. There's also a nearby Métro station (Argentine) on the East-West line (nr 1) which takes you to all interesting places in 15 to 20 minutes: Concorde, le Louvre, Hôtel de Ville and nice parts of the ancient Paris. It is also within walking distance of a busstop to the CDG airport. And to the fast RER metro to go to Versailles for example. The area, North of the posh 16th arrondissement is full of beautiful traditional bourgeois buildings, and has a few shops around for the usual errands. We tend to walk further into the 17th arrondissement to go to the fresh fruit and vegetable market, open every day.
