Acerca de nuestra casa

La petite Grange (the little barn) is a converted 19th century barn in the hamlet of Mas Del Sartre just off the D60 between Brive and Sarlat in the department of Dordogne.

Accommodation comprises of a large open living/ dining area, a well-equipped kitchen with fridge /freezer, gas cooker, washing machine and microwave. There are two double bedrooms. One 5-foot double is on the mezzanine with bathroom and toilet adjacent. The other double bedroom can be used with two singles or a 5 foot double bed, this too has its own bathroom, with bathtub and toilet, all newly renovated. All linen and towels are provided. In addition the sofa in the living area converts to a standard double bed.

In typical French style, all windows have shutters, to keep the heat out on hot summer days, and the sun out on light summer mornings.

There is a secluded garden with a gravel patio with outside furniture for alfresco dining. A portable gas barbeque, lounger chairs and large parasol are provided. There is ample parking for two cars.

FROM 2012 THE BARN WILL BE AVAILABLE TO RENT PRIVATELY. Do contact if interested.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are a retired English couple who live in the West Country in Cornwall. We bought La Petite Grange 15 years ago when I was still practicing as a family doctor, who needed to escape to rural France every now and again.

We have modernised the barn and added a bedroom and bathroom, a wood-burning fire and many other decorative details. Melody is a quilter and some of her quilts are in the barn for our friends and our family to enjoy.

We love the area, the pace of life, the beauty of the rural surroundings along with the grandeur of the nearby geography and historic architecture. Not to mention the amazing food and wine!

We also have family that live nearby, our niece and her French husband and children, live in a nearby village and she looks after our home for us. The linens and supplies are all lovingly chosen and looked after and Charlotte and Jean-Philippe would make any of our guests feel very welcome.

Little did we know when we bought our second home in France that one of our daughters would move to California. Which brings us here to the Home Exchange site, we are looking to swap with a similar property in the San Francisco Bay Area, so that we can enjoy being near to our family in the US, without all being on top of each other.

The Dordogne department and nearby Correze and Lot offer many attractions for holidaymakers.

The famous caves of Lascaux,(30 mins) Gouffe de Padirac.(60 mins)

The Dordogne and Vezerre rivers with their many Chateaux are close by. There are the attractive towns such as Sarlat(30 mins), Roccamadour (50 mins),Terrason (15 mins) Bergerac (60 mins) all within easy reach. With their historic architecture, farmers' markets and lovely cafes, to sit and watch the world go by.

The Lac du Causse is within an easy drive for swimming and boating activities and the Dordogne river also has a few beaches, and many canoeing points, where shuttle services are provided, so that you can canoe right back to your car.

Our nearest town Salignac is a small typically French market town, with a good supermarket and local produce. In the summer they open up the square at night at the weekends, where people flock to eat local fish and meat, all barbecued on the spot, where you can sit and soak up the atmosphere well in to the evening.

If you enjoy golf there are three courses to choose from, Brive, Souillac and Vitrac approx 30 mins drive, there is a set of clubs available for your use.

Nearest airports include, Bergerac, Limoges, Toulouse and Brive. There is train link from Paris to Brive. And Bordeaux (TGV) is 120 miles from the Barn.
