Acerca de nuestra casa

Our French house is on three levels, and is a typical French village house in that you walk in from the street into the hallway, and then on one side is the lounge, dining room and kitchen. On the other side is a store room where we keep wood for the fireplace and other bits and pieces. The house has three levels, and on the second level there is two large bedrooms and one smaller bedroom, the bathroom and toilet. The third level is an attic with very high ceilings and is the size of the entire footprint of the house.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are Barbara and John. We are both professionals in our late 50s and still working in the finance and environment fields and have been doing home exchanges for a number of years now. We have recently bought a property in Villemagne (11310) a small rural village the South of France near Castlenaudary and Carcassone in the Languedoc region and will be spending two to three months there from August 2016 and then hope to return to France again in August/September 2017. We are keen to do some short exchanges to nearby countries. In the past we have had several very successful exchanges with people from France, Italy, Switzerland, the UK and Scotland in 2009, 2012 and 2014 with our residence in Australia so this will be a new experience for us to do short exchanges within Europe.

Villemagne is a small village in the south of France, located in the department of Aude and the Languedoc-Roussillon region. It is part of the Community of Communes "Lauragais - Black Mountain." The approximately 275 Residents and inhabitants of the town of Villemagne are called Villemagnais and Villemagnaises.
The neighboring towns are Cenne-Monestiés, Villespy, Verdun-en-Lauragais, Carlipa, Saissac. The nearest large town of Carcassonne is 24.86 kilometers north in a straight line. The nearest railway station is at Bram (12.74 kilometers) or Castelnaudary (14.01 km).Languedoc-Roussillon, Cathare Country.

One of the most beautiful places in France, Languedoc-Roussillon is situated between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean and is crossed by the Canal du Midi and combines all the advantages of sea, countryside and mountains.
For those who enjoy walking or cycling, there are many marked walks and cycle paths in the area, one starting from near our front door! We are a short drive (10 mins) from St Ferreol lake, which has a pleasant beach, and a water sports centre, where you can hire small boats etc. as well as a good selection of restaurants.
There are also several golf courses in the area. If you would like to go further afield, we are about an hour drive to the Mediterranean, a little further to the Pyrenees, or just over two hours of very scenic driving from Andorra, a small principality with its duty free shopping! In the summer months there are many local fêtes and brocante markets, and on the last weekend in August, Castelnaudary holds its annual Fête du Cassoulet, now a 4-day festival dedicated to the town's most famous creation! During the 4 days there is plenty to do and see, the canal raft race, street markets and musical festival, or just simply sample that famous dish.
For lovers of history, 'La Cité of Carcassonne takes you back to the 11th and 12th centuries. This wonderful example of medieval architecture is truly unique, having miraculously survived the turbulent centuries! If food and wine is what you are looking for then Blanquette de Limoux, the local sparkling wine, is an absolute must.
