Acerca de nuestra casa

I'm mesmerized by the beauty of San Miguel as I sit on my porch at Villa Ambar Paraiso. The Bugambilia and the Jacaranda are competing for my attention with their vibrant colors. La Parroquia's intricately carved Gothic steeple crowns the town like a jewel set above the grand domes of the many churches. For more photos and information please go to: The Homepage

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are Patricia and Jim, a married couple with one teenager and one smaller child. We are both professionals (writer and software engineer) and enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in Santa Barbara. Ubicación

Barrio/zona

Beyond San Miguel the Mexican altiplano stretches out in front of me as far as I can see, with Mesquite trees sprinkled across the fields and low mountains embracing the landscape. A large, red sun is going down in the west. I pay it homage and thank it for another beautiful day, the way the Aztec shaman taught me and the way the ancients did for centuries. As the sun disappears behind the mountains, La Parroquia's façade lights up, like a flame that illuminates the nightlife of San Miguel. In the distance, I can hear Mariachis. It is time for me to get dressed and walk down the cobblestone streets to meet friends at one of my favorite restaurants. I love San Miguel. I love its colonial architecture and colorful buildings. I love the old man with his burros who comes to my door to sell firewood in winter and potting soil in summer. I love the church bells that ring every fifteen minutes, reminding me of how precious life is every second of the day. I love the early morning heat of the sun as it dispels the crisp coolness of the night; the rhythmic swish of the housekeeper's broom in the morning that sets the pace for a perfect day; the aroma of Abuelita's hot chocolate, Oaxaca coffee, and fresh tortillas heating on the stove.
