Acerca de nuestra casa

Our home is a sunny, comfortable nineteenth century cottage (fully modernised) in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site. We have views of the beautiful wooded valley and the river Severn. The main living room has its own gallery and inglenook fireplace with a log-fire. The large kitchen is fully equipped in farm-house style with a cooking-range, and a conservatory-eating area which goes out into the garden. There are four large double bedrooms, a dining room/study, and a snug where the children can go to watch satellite TV. We have a large garden (half an acre) with a woodland area, a small chalet (great for kids) and lots of lawn to play games or lie about on. The garden is visited by woodpeckers, buzzards, and a wealth of wildlife - although nothing too dangerous! You can walk out from our front-door onto the many miles of trails and footpaths which cross the valley; or visit our two village pubs which serve excellent food and real ales! This has been our home for 25 years and our children were born here and have grown up in it. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have done!

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are a family of four. We are both teachers (a Headteacher and professor of Adult Education) but now have flexibility to travel as and when we want, and we are looking forward to seeing much more of the world over the next few years! We enjoy sailing, skiing, moutaineering and walking, as well as short visits to European cities.

Our son now lives and works away from home. Our daughter is studying at Manchester University. Apart from English, we speak French and German fairly fluently, and Spanish passably! We have exchanged before and hope to make new friends when we exchange again!

We live in Shropshire, which is a very attractive rural county with many beautiful villages and a wealth of historical places to visit. This is the county of Houseman's "blue-remembered hills", and there are wonderful walks on the hills and along the many valleys. The county towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury are famous for their black-and-white houses and gourmet restaurants. There are also dozens of comfortable pubs serving good food at very reasonable prices. The Ironbridge Gorge museums which celebrate the beginnings of the industrial revolution are on our door-step, but we are only seven miles from the modern town of Telford which has excellent shopping facilities and all types of leisure activities from ice-rinks and ski-slopes to theatres and cinemas. We are forty minutes away from Birmingham and two and a half hours from London by train. Wales is half an hour by car!
