Acerca de nuestra casa

Our house is a comfortable detached family home in a quiet suburban cul-de-sac. It has two floors and is set on a plot of 650 square metres.

It has a spacious living room, open plan kitchen and dining room, two shower rooms, four bedrooms and study. It is set on two levels - we completed the loft conversion in 2011 and the dining extension in 2016. The house currently sleeps five people but we can provide a comfortable camp bed which will fit in one of the bedrooms to sleep an extra person. We have a cot, high chair, stair gate etc for babies/young children if required. Please note the beds in our two eldest child bedrooms are 'high sleepers' accessed up a ladder - see photos. Mattresses can be lifted down onto the floor if required.

We have many toys and games for all ages, DVDs, PS4, books, drum kit, piano keyboard - please feel welcome to use them all. We also have two smart TVs with good internet connection/wifi/Netflix etc.

We have a large and private rear garden. It has an outdoor eating area to seat 8 people, swings, slides, two tree houses with bridge, trampoline, climbing frame, basket ball net, playhouse and a football nets for children (and grown ups!). It is completely enclosed so it is very safe for children. We also have one adult bike, children's bikes/scooters and an adult scooter that you can use.

Our parents live in the area and will help with anything you need.

Our 7 seater car is an option and we would hope to swap cars if possible/ if required.

  1. Simon and Natalie are married and are in their late 30s/early 40s and have three children born in 2008, 2011 and 2016. Simon is a Town Planner and Natalie is a Pharmacy Technician. Our children are well behaved and are careful with other children's toys and games.

Although not essential, we prefer to swap with families who have some children of similar age to our own (makes life just that bit easier). If possible a house with a garden and pool (for summer exchanges) would also be great.

We have completed 8 home exchanges in the Dordogne, Paris, Zurich, Netherlands, Catalonia, Cote d'Azur... and Mayo and Wicklow here in Ireland. They were great experiences. We have grown to love this method of taking holidays which requires respect, openess and trust between like minded families. We would hope to get to know you by email and help you plan your holiday in advance. We will also leave lots of information about the local area / tourist attractions / places to eat etc.

We will look after your home as if it is our own and trust you to do the same. We will also keep in touch (if needed) during the holiday to share advice.

We are happy to consider all offers, please get in touch.

    Ireland awaits you!

  2. We are interested in an exchange in IRELAND, SCOTLAND OR ENGLAND for Easter 2020 and are seeking an exchange somewhere in EUROPE for around 2 weeks in Summer 2020.

Our house is located in a cul-de-sac in the suburbs of Bangor, a seaside town on the southern side of Belfast Lough. In 2007, and again in 2008, the town was voted by Ulster Television viewers as the most desirable place to live in Northern Ireland.

Bangor is situated 13 miles (22 km) east from Belfast and just 30 minutes by train or bus with Belfast City Airport even closer. The local train station (to Belfast and beyond) is less than 10 minutes walk.

Bangor has plenty of local restaurants (some where kids eat free), pubs, golf courses, tennis, fishing trips, a cinema and olympic size swimming pool (with water park, slides and wave machine for kids). A large Tesco supermarket is just two minutes drive away from our home.

The North Down Coastal Path with fantastic views of the ocean is just 10 minutes walk away - it stretches for miles along the coast and is far removed from traffic - perfect for walking.

Pickie Fun Park in the heart of Bangor is a great place for families. Bangor Marina is one of the largest in Ireland.

The Titanic Visitor Centre (winner of world's best tourist attraction 2016), Belfast City Centre, The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Mount Stewart (National Trust), Scrabo Tower are all within 30 minutes drive. Within 90 minutes driving distance are the world famous Giant's Causeway, The Mourne Mountains and The Glens of Antrim. World famous 'Game of Thrones' TV Series is also filmed here - tours are available. These are just some of the many attractions for you to explore.

Lonely Planet has voted Belfast and the Causeway Coast the top destination to visit in the world for 2018! In 2011 The National Geographic Traveller voted Belfast one of the top 10 places to visit in the world. Also Trip Advisor 2011 said Belfast is the best value UK city. Lonely Planet 2012 said 'Get here early and enjoy it before the rest of the world arrives'. In 2013 Lonely Planet ranked Northern Ireland in the Top 10 destinations to visit in Europe.

Dublin is just a two hour train journey away.

Please note the three closest major airports are George Best Belfast City Airport, Belfast International Airport and Dublin Airport. Dublin Airport is just 100 minutes on the motorway and has the most flight choices.

Whether you want to explore the scenic parts of Ireland or enjoy the buzz of Belfast is entirely up to you. We're in a perfect location for both.
