Acerca de nuestra casa

My stylish and comfortable home is situated in the heart of Somerset’s world-famous Cheddar Village, home to the spectacular Cheddar Gorge and Caves and birthplace of the UK’s most famous national cheese.

My home is within walking distance of the local attractions, as well as five pubs and an excellent selection of restaurants and cafes. We also have a local butcher, chemist, post office and two supermarkets close by.

The house is situated in a quiet residential street and has views to the Mendips.
If you keep the window to the master bedroom open in the evening your are likely to hear the owls in the woods that are just opposite the house.

The house has gas heating and all room are fitted with radiator, shutters are fitted to all windows with the exception for the bathrooms, kitchen diner and second bedroom.

As you enter the house through the front door off to the left there is a powder room with a WC and washbasin in a vanity unit. There is also a handy cupboard for coats and shoes in the hallway. The hallway, powder room and kitchen diner floor are all oak effect.

From the hallway, the lounge room is off to the right, this is carpeted and has a leather two-seater sofa and two generous sized armchairs. There is a coffee table and a side table next to one of the armchairs and three standard lamps. The flat screen colour TV that has FreeView and there is a CD player. There is also a gas fire for those colder nights.

The house has recently had a new kitchen and powder room. The spacious kitchen diner is off the hallway and is light and airy with high gloss kitchen cabinets, stone worktops and an island bench in the centre of the kitchen diner. There is a large fridge freezer fitted gas hob and electric oven, a slimline dishwasher and a Nespresso machine.

Off the dining room there is a conservatory that has two comfortable chairs in it along with a bistro table and two chairs. The conservatory opens on to the deck and garden. This is all south facing and an absolute delight in summer. There is a gas BBQ on the deck along with outdoor tables and seating. One thing to be wary of is that when the deck is wet, it can be very slippery, caution is to be used at all times when wet.

The washing machine and drier are in the garage along with another fridge freezer.

The stairs to the bedrooms are off to the left of the hallway. The stair and bedrooms are carpeted.

The main bathroom has a white bathroom suite, the shower is over the bath and there is a glass shower screen to stop he water from spraying over the bathroom, there is also an extractor fan in the bathroom.

The second bedroom has two 3-foot single beds which are pushed together, this make the room feel small, but as you only sleep in the room it is very comfortable. There is a build in wardrobe, chest of draws and bedroom side tables. There is also a hairdryer in this room.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, fitted wardrobe, chest of draws, two bedside cabinets, one of which has the flat screen TV on it and there is also a DVD in the room. The ensuite bathroom suite is white and has a glass shower cubical, basin and toilet. There is also an extractor fan in this room.

The third bedroom is used as an office. There is a desk with a monitor on it and printer should you wish to connect to it. I also keep my hairdryer in here as there is a very large mirror in this room.

There is an airing cupboard in the landing that houses the water tank.

The whole property is light, airy and modern. The garden is south facing and full of colourful shrubs (in the Spring and Summer). The property has free, high speed wifi.

The front garden is laid to grass and there is a driveway to park in.

The nearest main train station is a 20 minute drive (Worle, Weston Super Mare) and links to Central London (a 3 hour journey). Bristol airport is a 20 minute drive from here.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. I am in my early 50’s with a zest for life (I sometimes travel with a friend). I lived in Australia for 18 years (8 of which were in the Great Sandy Desert), before moving to Canada for 6 years, 3 of these years were living in the Arctic before moving back to Australia for 4 year and then on to Portugal for a year before moving back to the UK.

Since moving back to the UK I am more than happy to do long weekend breaks, both within the UK and Europe.

  2. Whilst living in Australia we did a 3-month home exchange through ‘Home for Exchange’ with a couple in London. This was a very successful exchange.

  3. I love my home and have furnished it with quality items that reflect who I am and would hope that who I exchange with would respect my home.

I am an executive assistant and have a very busy life.

I have an adventurous nature and love to travel to different countries and try anything different – my friends say that I am very ‘random’ as I will give anything a go. Last year I did a number of abseils, the most impressive one was the 70m waterfall abseil at Canonteign Falls in Devon, this is the highest man-made waterfalls in England.

My recent travels have taken me to Portugal on a many occasion, Venice in July for the La Biennale di Venezia, Brisbane, Belgrade for Christmas last year, visited Ulaanbaatar in May 2018.

Over the festive season for 2019/2020 I completed the Dakar Challenge with two other girls. We drove from Devon to Dakar 3,852 miles in 17 days and 7 countries this was a charity run to delivery prosthetic 'legs 4 Africa' and medical equipment. A challenging and exhilarating drive.

My house is only a 15 minute flat walk into to centre of Cheddar where there are restaurants and cafes, a further 10 minute walk will take to to the majestic cliffs of Cheddar Gorge. And of course there are caves to visit, the Cheddar Cheese to eat, and the local Cider and Strawberries to enjoy too after a walk along the Cliff tops or around the local artisan shops. Cheddar Reservoir or the neighbouring Medieval Village Axbridge.

The Bath Arms: 01934 742425 - This is the only pub in Cheddar village and is our posh pub, The White Hart: 01934 741261 – Dog and child friendly both inside and out and does a great Sunday lunch, The Cider Barn: 01934 741837 (BS27 3YB) Just a 35 minute walk along the track at the bottom of the chill-out field – always a warm welcome, with basic but good food (5 minute drive)
Por la noche
The most nightlife you will get in Cheddar is the local pub.
The nearest is The Café tel: 01934 741171 just opposite the stone monument in the village. Great food and great value.
Wells, Bath, Bristol
Cultura e historia
Wells is a beautiful place to visit. There is the famous attractions such as the cathedral, Bishops Palace and Vicars Close, as well as a twice weekly market and fabulous restaurants, coffee shops and shops in the town. A little further afield is the fascinating town of Glastonbury, with its quirky high street and Abbey and Tor, as well as Cheddar Gorge and the famous Wookey Hole caves. All within a 20 minute drive, or there's the gorgeous Bath and Bristol within about 45 minutes. Wells itself hosts a comedy festival every May and a literary festival in October. And we're also famous for being the location for the film Hot Fuzz (if you haven't seen it, you really should!). Various walking tours are often available. England's smallest city is a great base from which to explore more of Somerset, whilst being pretty and peaceful too.
De paseo
