Acerca de nuestra casa

Our Grade 2 listed house is was built for weavers in 1780 during the Industrial revolution. It was originally two dwellings, one on top of the other - now a largish family home on 5 floors (lots of stairs!). We have a large kitchen and utility room on our lowest floor, with a cosy lounge, library and shower room on the next floor up. Then 2 large bedrooms and one smaller one on the two floors above, together with a study and second shower room. The large master attic bedroom covers the width of the house with its own cloakroom, shower and bath. There is plenty of space for larger families.

We have original beams & a wood burning stove, views of the beautiful hillside. We have a small cobbled courtyard, quiet and very sunny, but not fenced off as our neighbours have access through it - it is a very friendly street! We are on a busy road at the front with free parking nearby - but very quiet at back.

We have plenty of children's toys for all ages including loads of lego and a good dressing up box! There is also an indoor swing and board games for adults and children.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We home educate our youngest son and both work partly from home, we are therefore very flexible about when we can swap. We are happy to swap outside school holidays as museums and attractions tend to be quieter. We have a cat, Spike who will stay here during swaps. We have 7 proper beds - but there is plenty of space to accommodate more people on mattresses on the floor - bring your relatives and friends!

We are experienced house swappers - we have done 16 swaps so far including overseas. We would like to arrange further swaps in 2017. We may also want to bring our old son (20) daughter (25) and partner and/or possibly Grandma!

  2. Mark and Jennifer run a small accountancy practice from home.

The house is five minutes walk from an eclectic mix of shops, great cafes, pubs & restaurants. Our 'bohemian' town is very welcoming and child tolerant. We have a cinema, small theatre and music venue in the town; there are many festivals and other events in Hebden Bridge throughout the year. The countryside surrounding the town provides hundreds of different walks - canalside, woodland, moorland, rivers and waterfalls.

We are 15 minutes walk from the station with good services to Leeds and Manchester, bus services are also good (stop opposite our house). The Grand Central Train service from Halifax to London is convenient. The local area can be appreciated best by walking - you don't need to drive every day.
