Acerca de nuestra casa

The flat is in a converted Edwardian house built in the 1920s on a leafy side street in west London.

It's easy and quick to get into the centre of town – the nearest underground station (Northfields) is a five-minute walk away.

The sunny living room, double bedroom and bathroom each open off the hallway. Continue through the living room and you reach the kitchen, with French doors that open onto the large deck and private garden.

The bathroom has a power shower and a full-sized tub. The kitchen contains an electric oven and ceramic hob and a generous sized refrigerator and freezer.

Transport connections are excellent: we are less than 30mins by tube from Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Notting Hill Gate, and 20mins from Heathrow airport. The Piccadilly tube line serves King's Cross station for Eurostar trains to and from the continent. If you're driving, we have easy access to the M4 (for the West Country) and the M40 (Oxford).

  1. I'm a freelance writer and journalist and my partner is in the film business. Skiing and hiking are among our interests, but we also like cities, and are up for weekend exchanges, particularly to European cities that are easy to get to by train. I've done home exchanges before and they have worked out well, so we'd like to try some more. We are looking for a specific swap this summer: to the Dolomites in June/July.

Ealing is most famous for its film industry. In the 1950s, Ealing comedies were made at the studios, which are still active. It's a popular area for families and couples, and is the perfect compromise between a relaxed location but within reach of all of London's attractions.

Local restaurants are terrific: you'll find many different cuisines, among them Nepalese, Southern Indian and Chinese (Maxim's features in a Wilbur Smith novel) and our favourite gastropub, the Ealing Park Tavern.

If you like jogging and tennis, Lammas Park is a few steps away.

About a 20-minute walk from the house is the PM Gallery, the largest public art gallery space in west London, in the manor house built by architect John Soane in 1804 and a beautiful example of his style.

Jump on a bus and you can easily get to Kew Gardens, with a world-class plant collection. There are picnic spots and walks along the river here too, and boats will take you from Kew Bridge up river to Henry VIII's palace at Hampton Court, or down to Greenwich.

Good shopping can be found at Ealing Broadway, Chiswick and Richmond and we're 20min by tube from Knightsbridge (Harrods, Harvey Nicks).

There's a collection of London guidebooks in the flat, but if you'd like some tips on what to see and do, just ask. We are happy to put you in touch with friends and contacts to make your stay memorable.
