Acerca de nuestra casa

We have lived in this house for 4 years and we think we have created a comfortable, contemporary and stylish home. It was a house stuck in the past and we have worked hard to get it to become a modern family home.

We have tried to blend contemporary style with traditional English Architecture. On the ground floor we have a separate living area and TV room with a wood burning stove. There is an open-plan kitchen/diner and living area overlooking our pretty garden where we have mixed the typical English garden with a contemporary layout. We love sitting on our deck enjoying the evening sunshine (yes the sun does shine in London). There is a separate utility and toilet area.

Going upstairs onto the first floor we have the teenagers' bedrooms. The style is a mix of vintage shabby chic and modern. Two bedrooms have double beds (140 cm wide) and our teenage boy has a raised loft-style single bed. There is a small single fourth bedroom which we use for guests. Our bathroom with full length bath and toilet is also on this floor.

Up on the second floor we have our newly built (2011) loft. This has the master bedroom, ensuite bathroom (with power shower) and family storage area. It's so peaceful and tranquil, overlooking our garden and a neighbourhood sports field with a lovely view of London's latest architectural addition 'The Shard'.

  1. We are a family of five. Ged is a lawyer with a global company so he travels a lot. Jo is a Social Worker in a nearby school. The children are 18,16 and 14. We love new cities, lazing on the beach and seeing different places.

    We love our home. We will treat an exchange home with the same respect and care which we are sure will be reciprocated by an exchange family.

    This summer we are looking to go anywhere hot and sunny ON THE COAST. In the Autumn we would love to go to New York. Jo and the children are restricted to school holidays.

    (We lived in Barcelona for three years and are always open to the idea of an exchange in BCN.)

Dulwich, in South East London, is one of the greenest residential areas in London. We have parks, playing fields and a village atmosphere. Minutes from our house you will find a pub, restaurants, the Dulwich Picture Gallery, Brockwell Lido and the pretty Dulwich Park with a good children's play area, small boating lake and tennis courts.

If you type 'Dulwich' into Google images, you will see the lovely village shown in pictures. The pictures are a thousand times better than my words !

We are well-connected for transport links. There are three train stations, each no more than 10 minutes walk from our house. These stations take you into different overground stations in central London (Victoria, London Bridge and Kings Cross) where you can join the extensive 'Tube' system.

The number 3 bus stops 300m from our house taking you to the nearest Tube station, 'BRIXTON', on The Victoria Line (10 minutes on the bus). From Brixton you can go all the way to Oxford Circus in approximately 15 minutes. This a good commute time for London. Once you are on the Victoria Line you can get anywhere in London ! Parking prices and daily congestion charges make public transport the best way to get around London.

Staying in our home you will experience a peaceful, green, village atmosphere yet have the buzz of London - shops, theatres, galleries,museums, parks and tourist destinations are easily accessible.

There are a number of shopping areas for your grocery shopping and we would be happy to help you to organise internet supermarket shopping should you require.

You can also use the tube and local trains stains to join the national train network to get to, for example, Oxford, Cambridge, Kent.
