Acerca de nuestra casa

Our apartment is clean, comfortable and spacious. The flat is laid out over two floors; upstairs is the open-plan living room and kitchen as well as a guest room/library with a view over the back gardens. There is also a bathroom with bathtub and toilet. Downstairs you will find the bedrooms as well as another bathroom with shower and separate toilet. All main rooms are around 14 square metres in size. We renovated a year ago, so everything is in good shape. There is broadband wifi. This is a good apartment where up to 5 people will be comfortable! The bedrooms are as follows - double bedroom with French doors to the garden - children's room with bunk beds - playroom with bed couch - guest room with bed couch The garden is a good size, sunny and quiet, nice to sit out during the summer. There is a trampoline (and movable football goals) for kids, relaxing chairs for adults, a small wooden patio as well as a BBQ for dinner.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are a family with 2 children, 6 and 9 years old. Eric is working as a financial journalist, while Ulrike is the director of a German Saturday School in East London. We love the outdoors, either in the garden or in the numerous parks nearby. London's cultural offerings are great; there's something for every mood!

We love cooking, there are great shops on the main road with lots of fresh produces. There are also the best Turkish restaurants in London just minutes away!

We love travelling and showing our children the world; this is our first exchange experience and we look forward to the adventure!

The Centre of London is not far away; all sights and shopping areas can be reached easily by underground and overground trains (10 Min to Kings Cross, 20 Min to Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line, direct to Heathrow) The next underground station is Manor House which will take you 1, oder 10-15 min by food or 5 min by one of the buses running down Green Lanes (bus stop 3 Min away). One of these bus lines also runs during the night, and gets you right into Trafalgar Square. What we like about this part of town is that although you get to the centre quite quickly, it is quiet and calm around the house so that it doesn't feel like you are in the middle of a busy city.

When it gets hot we like to take a day trip to the coast; there are some lovely beaches, and charming little villages along the coast, to be reached by car in about 1.5 hours.

There is also a nice indoors swimming pool nearby that the kids enjoy very much. And plenty of indoor playgrounds if the weather is bad. (Of course, there is always the TV and dvd in the back room for emergency entertainment).

For families: We live in Hornsey/Finsbury Park which is the district with the most families per square mile in the country (!). So there is plenty to do for the kids here. Our daughter is 6, and our son 3, so similar in ages to your children, and we find that when they are not in school we mostly do two things with them; playgrounds (or so-called soft-play houses which are indoor playgrounds) or playdates with friends. There are some fantastic playgrounds around, about 3 big ones, and another 3 small ones, some of them with paddling pools. They are mostly part of parks with cafés and little lakes (boat hire), and in the summer we easily spent half a day there, with picnics etc. Most of them can be reached by a short bus ride or a short car ride (we're happy to exchange our car), two of them are walking distance. Other than that, what our kids always love doing is sitting upstairs in a double decker bus; we have several of those that run along Green Lanes (2 min away) into the centre of town. You can find lots of info on what to do with kids in London such as museums, events, festivals etc. online; but I know that for a 3 year old (well, certainly for our 3 year old!) these 'big' things will get overwhelming quickly!
