  1. I'm Liz (51) and work as a Dual Diagnosis practitioner in mental health. I also have a small business working as a funeral planner with people who have life limiting illnesses. My husband, Andy (53), works in construction as a Projects Manager. We have adult children, Oli, who lives in a nearby village and our daughter, Sophie (21), who is working in New York as part of her degree course. This is one of the reasons we are keen to take part in our first ever house swap!

Andy and I met when we were 16 and 14 respectively and have been married for 28 years. Andy is a keen golfer and has membership at Scarcroft Golf Club. We have holidayed throughout Europe, Asia and South America. I have been to America just once and Andy has yet to visit.

It would be great to have contact with our potential exchange visitors via email or Skype to help us make sure we offer the best information required to ensure a fantastic stay in our home and beautiful country.

Our neighbourhood, Shadwell in North Leeds, is ideally placed for visiting our vibrant city. We have great shops, museums, galleries and theatres and some of the oldest public houses in Yorkshire! We are 20 minutes away from the glorious rolling countryside of North Yorkshire and about an hour from the Lake District. The world famous City of York with its tiny cobbled streets is a 30 minute drive and the impressively elegant Spa town of Harrogate just 20 minutes away. We are extremely lucky to live within close proximity of Harewood House, home to a cousin of the Queen and its fine walking area.
We have smart bars, restaurants, shops and Roundhay Park which is the largest urban park in the UK, all within walking distance of our home. We also have churches, temples, mosques and synagogues in easy reach.
Our neighbours are all professional people, a mix of families with small children and some of whom are retired. Our road is peaceful with a mix of terraced houses, semi-detached, detached and bungalows. We live in what the estate agents call 'the golden triangle', which means the desirable suburbs between Leeds, Harrogate and York.
Leeds is city ideally placed to visit east or west coasts of the north of England such as the beautiful harbour town of Whitby among many others. Salts Mill in the village of Saltaire a Unesco World Heritage site and is only a 30min drive. David Hockney, the famous painter originated from this area. Across the Pennines, and the highest motorway in the UK, is Manchester famous for its Curry Mile! London is a two and a half hour train journey from Leeds.
