St. Erth is a quiet rural village, a twenty minute walk from St. Erth Railway station - which has direct trains to & from St. Ives running every half an hour.
The village is surrounded by fields and dissected by the River Hayle, which meanders down to the RSPB nature reserve at Hayle estuary, a 15 minute walk downstream. Upstream walkers can follow the quiet footpath to Relubbus and then on to Marazion and St. Michael's Mount.
Our local pub doubles up as a fish & chip shop, both take away and eat in, and boasts a sunny beer garden to the rear. The local shop/post office is open from 7am - 7pm Mon to Sat, and Sunday 10am-4pm so you can always buy a pint of milk and loaf of bread! The farmers market runs every Saturday morning in the village hall. We have a local baker, fishmonger, pasty crimper and a number of cake bakers as well as various other local producers selling there every week.
If you have little nippers with you, there is a fabulous enclosed play ground and coffee shop just down the river - an easy flat walk away. They also have a pitch and putt course, crazy golf and crazy football to entertain all the family. Coast2Coast Go-Karting track is just a little further down the river for all you petrol heads.
If you can't wait until the farmers market, fresh eggs are sold outside the local farm, a ten minute walk away, through the fields, or if you're pushing a pram - just down the country lane!
St. Erth train station is a very short drive/20 minute walk away. You can access mainline train network or the St. Ives Bay Line here.
There is a cycle path to Hayle, and we often cycle to Marazion along the old A30 road and a number of cycle paths - it takes about 40 minutes if you are going at a leisurely pace, unlike a lot of Cornwall, this route is relatively flat, and once you are on the South Coast there is a completely flat bike path all the way to Mousehole. We often cycle there, and take the train back, which works really well if you have kids.
A local bus runs daily into Hayle or to Penzance.
There are plenty of beautiful river walks, and you can walk down river to Hayle estuary and on to either 3 miles of sand at Hayle beach or the glorious Lelant/ Porth Kidney beach - this will take you about an hour, and there are a few cafe's to quench your thirst en route.
You can park one car in our driveway - (we drive a very long estate car so most cars will fit), and another across the drive on the road. There is a new Zappi electric car charging point for you to use free of charge too.
