Acerca de nuestra casa

Our home stands in a large garden, on a quiet road in a small, picturesque Devon town; close to the river, beaches, Dartmoor National Park and beautiful coastline. The house has a cosy sitting room with log burner; kitchen with seating for eight, and a good sized bathroom. Downstairs there is a master bedroom with en-suite shower room, and a single bedroom with doors to the rear garden; upstairs there is a further double bedroom, and a large attic room with sofa, flat screen TV, X Box and Wii (with films and games) and a single fold-out guest bed, but we could easily arrange another single bed in here if required.

Garden doors open out from several rooms onto decking; a further area of deck catches the evening sun with tables and chairs for outside dining in good weather. We have a large trampoline sunk into the rear garden, a good sized area of grass for games, a BBQ and four bicycles. Our house is light, airy, welcoming and comfortable, and in a beautiful region of England, one of the most popular holiday areas in the country.

Más sobre nosotros

  1. We are a family of four - Richard is a graphic designer, I (Andrea) am a marketing manager for an architectural practice and we are in our late-forties. Our children are Grace (17) and Tom (15) and both would be travelling with us. We have a dog, Paddy, who would stay with a friend and Olive the cat who could stay or we would arrange for her to be elsewhere. As a family we enjoy making the most of the activities and sports on offer. We have not exchanged before, but have friends who have done several and highly recommend it. We would, of course, look after your home as if it were our own and would offer lots of ideas and recommendations for making the most of your stay in ours.

Topsham is a very small, historic estuary town on the River Exe, just four miles from Devon's capital city of Exeter, and around six miles from the beautiful East Devon coast, where you'll find seaside towns such as Exmouth and Lyme Regis and stunning coastal scenery, and the start of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline with its mix of sandy and pebbly beaches and high red cliffs.

We are on a quiet residential lane near open countryside, and our pretty town and the river is a five minute walk away. Topsham was once a port and has a characterful high street and quayside with a range of interesting shops selling antiques, old clocks, crafts and local cheeses, as well as groceries etc. There are also galleries, excellent cafes, fine dining restaurants and traditional pubs. Topsham has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, playgrounds, museum and lovely walks around the town and the famous Strand with its Dutch gabled houses facing the river. There are boat trips and excellent bird watching on the doorstep, and a championship golf course just 20 minutes away. Topsham is on the 26 mile long Exe Estuary Cycle Trail-National Route 2, so Exeter and the rest of Devon's cycle routes on Dartmoor, along the coast and beyond are easily accessible. You won't be short of things to do locally.

There is a frequent train service through Topsham to Exeter (journey of 13 mins), and to the sandy beaches of Exmouth (15 mins). The university city of Exeter has excellent shopping, a Cathedral, great restaurants, theatre, museum, cinemas and an historic quayside with watersports and climbing centre.

Excellent walking country is just half an hour away in Dartmoor National Park, and on the South West Coastal Path. Devon has many beautiful historic houses and gardens to visit. There's lots to see and do in this holiday region and Topsham is ideally situated as a base for the whole of the beautiful West Country.

Further afield mainline rail from Exeter links to Cornwall, Bristol and Bath, and to London (2.5 hrs). By car Bristol is 1 hour, Bath 1.5 hrs, Stonehenge 1.5 hrs, Eden Project 1.5hrs, Lyme Regis under 1 hr. The sandy surfing beaches and dramatic coastline of North Devon and Cornwall are approximately 1-1.5 hours away. Exeter Airport has daily flights to London.
